Reading the Full Moon as a release
When a Full Moon arrives, it does so as a peak. The Sun and Moon stand opposite each other across the sky — and across the inner self. Whatever was seeded two weeks earlier at the New Moon now ripens, sometimes uncomfortably. Astrology calls this culmination. Psychology calls it integration.
The Moon is your emotional baseline. The Sun is your conscious will. When they oppose, the dialogue between them surfaces. That's why Full Moons feel emotionally louder. You're not imagining it — the parts of you that usually whisper are suddenly speaking up.
What to actually do with a Full Moon. Forget rituals for a moment and look at the sign it falls in. A Full Moon in Sagittarius asks you to look at where you've contracted, where wider belief is needed. A Full Moon in Cancer asks where your home, your roots, your inherited emotional patterns are running the show. A Full Moon in Capricorn lights up structure — what you have built versus what you have been told to build.
Then look at the houses involved. In your natal chart, the Sun and Moon of any lunation will activate two opposite houses. That axis is the conversation. Career versus home (10/4). Identity versus relationship (1/7). Income versus values (2/8). The pair of houses tells you the relational tension being asked to integrate.
Release isn't about getting rid of things. It's about giving the part of you that wants something else permission to be heard. The myth of the Full Moon as 'cutting cords' is good marketing but bad psychology. What actually happens is more subtle — you notice. You notice the friend you keep apologising to. The job you keep tolerating. The story you keep telling yourself about why you can't.
And once you've noticed, you can choose differently. The Moon will wane. The intensity will pass. But the noticing — that stays.
If you want to go deeper, look at any planet within 5° of the Full Moon degree in your chart. That planet is the lens through which the lunation moves through you. A Full Moon conjunct natal Venus is a relationship reckoning. Conjunct Saturn, a maturity threshold. Conjunct Pluto, a quiet death and rebirth that nobody else may notice.
The sky doesn't push you. It just shines a light. The work is yours.
