Privacy Policy

Who we are

Soulology ("we", "us", "our") is a psychological astrology app and service operated from the United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, Soulology is the data controller of the personal data described in this policy. Privacy questions: soulologyapp@gmail.com.

Information we collect

Account details (name, email, hashed password); birth data for charts (date/time/location); subscription identifiers from Stripe; questions submitted via Ask-an-Astrologer; AI-generated chart interpretations; friend connections; communication preferences; technical logs (IP, device, timestamps).

How we use it

To deliver the service you signed up for (charts, readings, transits), process payments via Stripe, keep the platform secure, send transactional emails, and improve the product. We never sell or share personal data for advertising.

Third-party processors

Stripe (payments), Resend (transactional email), Anthropic & OpenAI (AI interpretations, anonymised prompts only), MongoDB Atlas (storage). Each is bound by a data-processing agreement.

Retention

We keep your data as long as your account is active. On deletion we erase your data within 30 days, except where law requires retention (e.g. HMRC tax records, 7 years).

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection and complaint to the ICO. Email soulologyapp@gmail.com to exercise any of them.

Security

Passwords hashed with bcrypt. HTTPS everywhere. Database encrypted at rest. Access restricted to a small operations team.

Children

Soulology is for users aged 16+. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

Material changes notified in-app or by email at least 30 days in advance. Last updated 13 February 2026.

Terms & Conditions

Acceptance

By creating an account or using Soulology you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

Account

You're responsible for the accuracy of your account details and for keeping your password secure. You must be 16 or older. One account per person.

Service description

Soulology calculates astrological charts using Swiss Ephemeris and generates psychological interpretations using third-party AI models. Charts are computed from the birth data you provide; their interpretive accuracy depends on the accuracy of that input.

No professional advice

Soulology is for personal reflection and entertainment. It is not medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice. For health or mental-health concerns, consult a qualified professional.

Acceptable use

Don't abuse the service, attempt to access other users' data, reverse-engineer the app, resell content, or use it for harassment. We may suspend accounts that breach this clause.

Subscriptions & payments

Premium is billed via Stripe on a recurring basis (monthly or yearly). One-off purchases (Ask-an-Astrologer credit, Whole-Sign lifetime unlock) are charged at the time of purchase. See our Subscription Policy and Refund Policy.

Intellectual property

All trademarks, logos and original content belong to Soulology. Your birth data and the readings generated for you are yours — we hold a licence only to render them for you inside the app.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Soulology is provided 'as is'. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Statutory consumer rights in the UK and EU are not affected.

Termination

You may delete your account at any time from inside the app. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts, subject to your statutory rights as a consumer.

Refund Policy

UK / EU statutory right of withdrawal

If you are a UK or EU consumer you generally have 14 days to withdraw from a digital service contract. By starting to use Premium features immediately after purchase, you expressly waive that right for digital content delivered straight away — this is required by the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

Subscriptions

We don't usually refund partial billing periods. If you cancel a monthly subscription mid-month, you keep access until the period ends, then it stops renewing. Yearly subscriptions are refundable on a pro-rata basis if cancelled within 14 days of payment and you have not used Premium AI readings during that window.

One-off purchases

Ask-an-Astrologer credits are refundable until you submit the question. Once a question has been sent to our astrologer team it is non-refundable, because work has begun. The Whole-Sign lifetime unlock is non-refundable after first use (because it is a perpetual upgrade granted immediately).

How to request

Email soulologyapp@gmail.com with your account email and the order reference (from your Stripe receipt). We respond within 5 working days and process approved refunds within 14 days to the original payment method.

Faulty service

If a charge is wrong, a feature you paid for didn't work, or you were billed after cancellation, we will refund the affected amount in full — no questions asked. This does not affect your statutory consumer rights.

Subscription Policy

Plans

Soulology Premium is sold as a £7.99 monthly or £59.99 annual auto-renewing subscription. Premium unlocks AI psychological readings, transit alerts, synastry & composite readings, solar/progressed charts, and Upcoming Psychological Forecasts.

Billing

We use Stripe to process payments. Your card is charged at the start of each billing period. We accept all major credit and debit cards plus Apple Pay & Google Pay where supported.

Auto-renewal

Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. We send a reminder email 7 days before annual renewals.

Cancellation

Cancel any time from inside the app: Profile → Manage subscription, or via this website's Account page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep Premium until then. There is no penalty or termination fee.

Plan changes

You may upgrade from monthly to annual at any time — the new rate applies immediately, with a pro-rated credit for the unused monthly period. Downgrades take effect at the next renewal.

Free trial / promotions

Where we offer a free trial, your card is authorised but not charged until the trial ends. Cancel before the trial ends to avoid being charged.

Failed payments

If a payment fails, Stripe retries up to 4 times over 14 days. We email you at each attempt. If all retries fail, your Premium access pauses but your account and data are retained.

Pricing changes

We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice by email. New prices apply to renewals after the notice period — you can cancel any time before they take effect.

iOS users

Currently subscriptions on Apple devices are purchased via this website (not via the iOS app) per App Store rules. The same account works across web, Android and iOS.

Cookie Policy

What we use

Soulology uses one essential first-party storage item: your authentication token, kept in your browser's localStorage so you stay signed in. We don't use advertising cookies, third-party trackers, fingerprinting libraries or cross-site pixels.

Strictly necessary

Auth token (localStorage, key 'soul_token') — required for sign-in. The dismissible 'Get the app' banner remembers its dismissed state (localStorage, key 'soulology.play-banner.dismissed').

Third-party

When you start a Stripe checkout, Stripe may set its own cookies on its own checkout domain — see Stripe's cookie policy. When you watch the AI-generated readings in-app, Anthropic and OpenAI only see anonymised prompts.

Your choices

You can clear localStorage at any time from your browser's developer tools or privacy settings — you'll be signed out and need to sign in again. We don't track DoNotBrowser headers because we set no third-party trackers in the first place.
